HCPT 50th Anniversary

Sunday 15th May there will be a Mass in St Francis Xavier’s, Carfin to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Scottish Region. This will be followed by tea and an exhibition of photos and memorabilia.
All are warmly invited.

St John I – Wednesday 18th May

St John was elected pope in 523. Already frail, he was prevailed upon by King Theodoric to go on a mission to the Emperor Justin, then based in Constantinople, in relation to the Arian controversy still affecting the Church after two centuries Although largely successful, on his return the king accused him of conspiring with the emperor against him and had him put in prison, where he died.

St Bernadine of Siena – Friday 20th

St Bernadine (1380 – 1444) became a Franciscan friar and preached very effectively all over Italy, using colloquial language and popular imagery. He refused three times to become a bishop because it
would interfere with his freedom to be a travelling preacher. He promoted devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus and gave us the IHS Monogram.

Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday morning before Mass at 9.25am, the Litany of Loreto followed by the Rosary will be prayed.
