Preparing for the Synod of Bishops -Update

“For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation and Mission.” Pope Francis invites us all to take part in the Synod which will reflect on these themes. Every parish is asked to come together in prayer, listening and discernment to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to us. In communion with each other, we experience that “we belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God” (1 Corinthians 3.23). Bishop Toal will mark the beginning of this synodal process with the celebration of Mass in Motherwell Cathedral on Sunday 17th October at 3pm. Make a note of this in your diary and take part in this important diocesan event. Please let your Parish Priest know

At next weekend’s Masses, I intend to talk about the upcoming Synod of Bishops. We as a parish will be invited to make our own contribution over the course of 4 meetings. I will speak about the timeline for this and  how we might go about it. As well as discussing specific Church issues, it might also allow us a forum to discuss  how the pandemic has affected us individually and collectively and what we can do to support each other as  we come out the other side.
